Contemporary Ballet of Asia Invitation(Korea)    YOURS // KIM DAAE 
The dancers strong presence and the power of expression were effective with good connection and understanding

clearly noticeable between the choreographer and dancers.    
Unique, fine movements appealed and fascinated me.  Beautiful work and great opening to SAI 2023.

 

1)    Macihinegun person  // HIRATA Shiori
The choreographer weaves an interesting structure for this piece.
This piece carried away and its joyful motoristic energy was pleasant with a controlled wholeness in structure.

2)    Odi Et Amo // OKAMOTI Sota
Dancers interpret splendidly choreographer´s thinking and requirements and will take a spectator on an interesting          
    journey. Very strong, beautiful and balanced duet.
A strong choreographic wholeness - a complete symbiosis of music and movement. 

3)    fill in // OTAKI Kaede
This piece did not open, nor did it fully reveal its content to me either. I felt being an outsider and not  understanding it.

It remained distant without becoming an interesting piece of art. I tried to find the message of the work.
The second part of the piece made it more interesting as well as music.

 

4)    hinemos // TERAO Marika

Three dancers moved well but the message of the work, the structure did not open up to me and left me quessing

about the processing of the whole.

5)    AWARENESS // Okamoto Yuuka, TAMARA Minovic
Successful choreographic entity. The mutual chemistry between dancers and their movement quality created

enjoyable moments on stage. Absolutely beautiful duet. This work touched me.

6)    To Dance // TOYODA Eureka
This piece did not fulfil my expectations. The given information beforehand did not open this piece to me.

7)    KAMIKAZE-ANT // KAWABATA Yusuke
The man with red mask and in red costume – there was something very interesting and the work reminded me about     

butho technigue and piqued my interest. The work is strong in its own genre. 
For me, this work stayed too tightly in the place and froze the message. 
The choreographer should open up and work on the piece further – not give up!!! 

8)    There is no beginning, but the are also two ends // KAWAMURA Atunori, MATSUMOTO Hinako
Female dancer was very interesting mover. 
There was humor and interesting solutions but also to me it was predicatable and even naively.

9)    4999 // ENOMOTO Yui
The music of the piece and sound world took us to into silence. The whole way of handling the piece was contradictory

and thin to me and didn’t fulfil my expectation.

10)   Sleepless Night // MORI Shukuna
The work was well rehearsed and danced but seemed to me still school-like / intermediate work or at least the first 

works of a choreographer who is still on her way. 

11)   utakatanoniwa /7 TOOI Kouki
Interesting duet, good strong dancers in green costumes – white balls.

This piece did not open, nor did it  fully reveal its content to me either. I felt being an outsider and not understanding it. 

It remained distant without becoming an interesting piece of art. 

12)   touch // IMAI Ako
A delicated and quiet solo from the touch. A sensitive and intense dancer who carried the work well.

13)   yel. // KAWANO Kaho
The best in this work was the stylish good music choice for this work and good dancer!
The whole way of handling the piece was contradictory and thin to me and didn’t fulfil my expectation.

This work to me was too much school-like and made me think `the choreography is not just interesting or nice movement blanks in a row without a clear structure and some message. 

14)  “SAI” is cast. // INOUE Kanta, TOKUDA Mika, NAKAGAWA Yurie
This piece did not fulfil my expectations.

15)   TOKYO 21XX // ASAKAWA Kanae!!!!!!!
The dancer of this work is good mover and still on her way to be a dance artist.
Her choreographic thinking is still looking for its line and requires the development of basic choreographic structures

and style.
The whole way of handling the piece was contradictory and thin to me and didn’t fulfil my expectation. This work to me

was too much school-like and made me think `the choreography is not just interesting or nice movement blanks in a row without a clear structure and some message. 

 

16)    Pray and free // OZAKI Miho
SILK LADY. This piece carried away and its joyful motoristic energy was pleasant with a controlled wholeness. The work was beautiful but left me kind of cold. The work for my taste was too “sweet” and didn´t  represent the modern arresting style of 2020 century. This work for sure will be a nice performing piece which is a successful combination of tradition, “modernism” and spirit of the times.


17)    Q1 // TERASOMA Aya
Three dancers dressed in violet (?) costumes. The work`s movement language took my thoughts to Butho- like world`` but this piece did not fulfil my expectations.
There was something very interesting moments and I  liked the atmosphere of the work. 
One of the dancers in the piece enchanted me in particular.

 

18)    MATSURI // EMICH
This piece did not fulfil my expectations. For me, this work stayed too tightly in the place and there was not good contact between dancers-   it was hard to find the red thread. This choreographer is still on her way and needs more experience. The given information beforehand did not open this piece to me.    
The curve of this piece does not appear or open clearly.

 

19)    Imitating the cries of imaginary creatures (Alien Blues) // MIYA Yuduke
This work is real the piece of ART – a truly mature, experimental and unique, original work.
I loved this performer - intensive great performer. Touched my soul! 
Enjoyable wholeness - enjoyable art experience. Congratulations!

 

20)    otenten //EGUCHI Rikito
Two male dancers wearing helmets. This piece did not open, nor it did not fully reveal its content to me either. I felt being an outsider and not “understanding” it. Unfortunately it remained for me a distant and unstructured surprise, despite the fact the dancers were okay.
It remained distant without becoming an interesting piece of art. 

 

21)    heart of mud // MINAMI Azu
Strong expression, inner pain, shaking in place, falling – which is challenging to build into an interesting 9,5 min long choreography for anyone. The work still seemed hobbyist to me.

 

22)    or sis // YOKOYAMA Yaeko
This piece did not fulfil my expectations. This work to me was still quite “school-like work” with experimental movement and difficult to find a clear choreographic structure. The music world of the work was interesting and would have given many interesting possibilities.

 

23)    The unknown path // SUGIYAMA Kanoko
This piece did not fulfil my expectations. This work to me was still quite “school-like work” with experimental movement and difficult to find a clear choreographic structure and red thread.
The choreography is not just sequenced of movement put in a row and acting on stage. Choreography always requires a clear structure, message and well-thought -out solutions.

 

24)    VUCA //TSUCHIDA Takayoshi
The structure in this piece, rhythmic and the method of handling made interesting combination.
The dancer dominated the piece, but the piece itself left me with an empty feeling – the work to me was more a game than the piece of art. I would love to see this dancer move more because he is an interesting dancer.

 

25)    Everybody, Every way, Every morning // KATO Rie
The way how this piece was handled was interesting but I waited for more clear structure of the piece. 
Now this work opened to me a little confused and hobbyist and that’s why this piece did not fulfil my expectations.

 

City Dance Festival Invitation (USA)   Dip blue // Norberto Collazo 
The refinement of the piece is based on simple and clear but essential solutions. The structure in this piece, rhythmic and the method of handling it formed a strong combination.
The unexpectedness and freshness of the piece together with dancers´ movement quality and sensitiveness of expression were dismantling. Very experienced and interesting dancer with strong technique. 
Here the choreographer expresses well-balansed control of entity.
Interesting movements, excellent music handling - very captivating piece of art from the beginning.

 

26)    Avalon // NAKAMURA Shun
Four very strong male dancers with full of dynamic energy, acrobatic and very precise teamwork. 
Great piece - loved this! The structure in this piece, rhythmic and the method of handling it formed a strong combination. Congratulations!

 

27)    White Labyrinth // MORI Maho
The choreographer weaves an interesting structure for this piece. The piece is impressive, interesting and believable.  Interpretation is tender and believable and it strengthens the movement. Nice and interesting dancer.

 

28)    Nice, OK, Fire, Comedy // NAKAGAWA Rion
Here the choreographer expresses well-balanced control of entity, Interesting movements and the excellent music choise took my feelings Commedia  dell´arte world  -  very captivating piece of art from the beginning.
The choreographer fell into stretching the piece which at same time lost some interest.

 

29)    Common Sense // Yamashita Momoka
This “running” solo started promisingly but turned out to be evenly flat or dull and an uninteresting piece and had strange choreographic solutions.  The curve of this piece does not appear or open clearly and it was very hard to find out clear choreographic structure.

 

30)    accomplish // NAGASHIMA Yusuke, SANO Kana
Here the choreographer expresses well-balanced control of entity, Interesting movements, excellent music handling - very captivating piece of art from the beginning. Good, beautiful and strong duetwork.
Successful choreographic entity BUT the work remained expressionless and the duet lacked a real connection between the dancers and the choreographic ending -just walking off the stage confirmed  this feeling for the audience. Wonderful dancers. Great cello music choice.

 

31)    embrace // ISHIBASHI Shigemasa
Great couple, beautiful duet, technically strong dancers – male dancer particularly charmed me with his soulful interpretation. Unfortunately this couple occasionally forgotten in a frozen expression. 
The structure in this piece, rhythmic and the method of handling it formed a strong combination.

33)    Still Standing // HIRATA Tomoko
This work was to me neon classic -style. Absolutely beautiful dancer with strong dance technique but the piece itself to me was not so interesting - The whole way of handling the piece is contradictory and thin.

 

34)    NOODLE // NAKAJIMA Yuri
The given information beforehand did not open this piece to me.  The curve of this piece does not appear or open clearly andtThe movement quality was left to amateurs level. This piece did not fulfil my expectations.

 

35)    WONDER DA // HIRATA Tara
This solowork remained a mystery to me and I couldn´t find a clear choreographic structure and it still appeared as amateurish work – however there was also moments – something interesting ideas in the air.

 

36)    My habit // URASHIMA Yuuna
This solowork remained a mystery to me and I couldn´t find a clear choreographic structure and it still appeared as amateurish work and this piece did not fulfil my expectations.
The given information beforehand did not open this piece to me.

 

37)    unspoken // ENDO Megumi, SHIMIZU Yoko
Two beautiful dancers with great contemporary technique. The way how this piece was handled was admirably challenging. The structure in this piece, rhythmic and the method of handling it formed a strong combination but somehow remained distant.

 

38)    LE REVOLVER // YOKOHAMA Sakura
This piece did it open, nor did it  fully reveal its content to me either. I felt being an outsider and nor did it understanding it. It remained distant without becoming an interesting piece of art. 
 
39)    (D) DETOX // MIZUMURA Rina, SAWAMURA Ryo
Great couple and they mastered the weightlessness  and breathability  of movement superbly – especially female dancer of this work. Cleverly moving full movement created an atmosphere which carried away into a world where it would have been enjoyable to remain longer. 

 

40)    Douple poem // KUROTAKI Yasushi
The structure in this piece, rhythmic and the method of handling it formed a strong combination.
This piece can be performed on any stage in the world.  The dancer is a talented mature interpreter. 
He is able to defy time bravely, be present and sense the moment sensitively and be able to interpret even the smallest nuances. Therefore, everything functions in this "pakage"!
The choreographer expresses well-balanced control of entity, interesting movements, excellent music handling - very captivating piece of art from the beginning. The movement is enough to break your heart and it says a lot.  It fills the entire plain stage which is supported to the very end. 
This piece and artist reached a high artistic level that showed a special talent and ability to touch the soul.
I am speechless and grateful for this art experience at SAI 2023!! 

 

41)    WC-Wonder Closet- // SHINOHARAN Hinata
The given information beforehand did not open this piece to me.
The choreography is not just a sequence of movements connected together without the red thread of the work and a clear structure of the work. There were moments but the chor. wholeness was still  weak for the international competition.
This doesn´t mean that the piece wasn`t good but needs still to work on it.

 

42)    FuwakuMe // AMI Jiro
There were some interesting and good ideas but this piece did not open to me, nor it did not fully reveal its content to me either. I felt being an outsider and not understanding it. It remained distant without becoming an interesting piece of art. The dancer was interesting mover.

 

43)    hollow // TAKAHASHI Kaoru
The mutual chemistry between dancers and their movement qual created enjoyable moments on stage.
Here the choreographer expresses well-balanced control of entity. Beautiful dancers and a great suspenseful piece. Interesting movements, excellent music handling - very captivating piece of art from the beginning.

 

44)    Creation // GOTO Yoshiki
Dramatic music and promising opening to the work. This piece did not open, nor did it fully reveal its content to me either. I felt being an outsider and not understanding it. It remained distant without becoming an interesting piece of art. I missed a clear choreographic structure.

 

45)    Higan-between this world and the other world Who will bury the night // MAGANUMA Hiromi
This piece carried away and its joyful motoristic energy was pleasant with a controlled wholeness in structure. Talented and beautiful dancer with her well expressive movements saluted this wonderful piece of work. The choreographer showed maturity and courage in her piece; fine texture and interesting piece.

 

46)     Aaaaaa // TAMURA Satoru
This piece did not open, nor did it fully reveal its content to me either. I felt being an outsider and not understanding it. It remained distant without becoming an interesting piece of art.   
This piece did not fulfil my expectations.

 

47)    Doll House // IKEGAMI Fuko, NAKAMURA Takara
The mutual chemistry between dancers and their movement quality created enjoyable moments on stage. 
The structure in this piece, rhythmic and the method of handling it formed a strong combination. 
Unfortunately the occasional little unmusicality detracted from this fine work. 

 

48)    Choice // HAYASHIDA Taisho
A skilled and interesting dancer who used his strong locking technique in a controlled way in his work. 

 

49)    Komorebi // TAKAHASHI Jun
The choreographer of this piece had challenged himself and had not left anything to a chance to decide.
The choreographer weaves an interesting structure for this piece. Precise handling of music served the challenge in this piece and made the entire piece a wonderful experience.
A well-rehearsed and danced piece – telling movement.

 

50)    TIMETAMID // YUUKI Mayu
The whole way of handling the piece was contradictory and thin to me and didn’t fulfil my expectation. This work to me was not finished and made me think `the choreography is not just interesting or nice movement blanks in a row without a clear structure and some message. 
This doesn´t mean the piece wasn´t good but the curve of this piece does not appear or open clearly.

Here the choreographer expresses well-balanced control of entity Interesting movements, excellent music handling - very captivating piece of art from the beginning. Brave, interesting and fresh / an original way to handle the piece. The wholeness functions strongly and the rhythmic carries interestingly.

Dancer interpret splendidly choreographer´s thinking and requirements and will take a spectator on an interesting journey. The piece is impressive, interesting and believable.

Interesting choreographer. The structure in this piece, rhythmic and the method of handling it formed a strong combination. The wholeness functions strongly and the rhythmic carries interestingly.

The choreographer had finely created tensions between furious dance and halting moments.
The mutual chemistry between dancers and their movement quality created enjoyable moments on stage.
OMG what lovely dancers – just awesome movers - loved this work! 
Interesting energy levels deepened and expsessed the content of this piece.
The choreographer of this piece had challenged himself and had not left anything to a chance to decide. 
Talented dansers with their well expressive movements saluted the wonderful piece of work.

Dancers interpret splendidly choreographer´s thinking and requirements and will take a spectator on an 
interesting journey. 
A strong choreographic wholeness - a complete symbiosis of music, movement and light.
Talented dancers with their well expressive movements saluted the wonderful piece of work. 
This piece did not leave room for uncertainty or guessing - it is touching, it lives in the nick of time.
Courage, challenge, impudence and fervor. Touched and piqued my interest.  I enjoyed every second.

KU Man Ian    ^A BIG BIG STEP TO BE HERE¨
The choreographer had finely created tensions between furious dance and halting moments.

The unexpectedness and freshness of the piece together with dancer`s movement quality and sensitiveness of expression were dismantling.

This piece carried away and its joyful motoristic energy was pleasant with a controlled wholeness in structure.

             

LAI Hung-Chung ^Birdy^
The choreographer had finely created tensions between furious dance and halting moments.
The mutual chemistry between dancers and their movement quality created enjoyable moments on stage.
I saw this work now second time and now it opened to me in a different way and was also different with new dancers (I think dancers before wasn´t the same ones?). Earlier this work to me was even more intensive.
Here the choreographer expresses well-balansed control of entity, Interesting movements, excellent music handling very captivating piece of art from the beginning.
             
SENGOKU Kotaro is not stagnationˆ
The symbiosis of movement, music and light strengthened the interesting structure in piece. The wholeness functions strongly and the rhythmic carries interestingly. 
 
JUNG Jaewoo  ^Perfect Skill^ 

Human relationships such as narcissim and even taboos are being handled in a comical way and thus they make an interesting piece. Dancers surrender themselves unconditionally to multible interpretations and they take the piece  to an interesting level. Brave, interesting and fresh / an original way to handle the piece.This piece is funny and  entertaining but, at the same time it is mysterious and lacking pathetic nature. 
This piece is a spectator friendly, easily approachable and entertaining. 
However, it did not convince my interest as a piece of art.

 

Josh MARTIN ^Leftovers^
Here the choreographer expresses well-balansed control of entity, Interesting movements, excellent music 
handling   - captivating piece of art from the beginning but to me turned evently thick, which would have 
been avoided by compressing the work a few minutes or maybe a moment of surprise would have brought a
new level. 
The choreographer showed maturity and courage in his piece; fine texture and interesting piece and a dancer 
as well. There is a functioning and interesting concept in this piece.

 

TAKA Mizuki ^doldrums^
There is a functioning and interesting concept in this piece. Cleverly moving full movement created an  
atmosphere which carried away into a world where it would have been enjoyable to remain longer. 
The choreographer weaves an interesting structure for this piece. Mature and controlled interpretation.

 

OBS!!!!
Norberto COOLAZO ^Dip blue^ should perform in Exhibition I or II !!!
